ASSAM RIFLES’ FALSE, MALICIOUS DEFAMATORY WAR AGAINST NSCN MUST END
Ever since Indo-Naga Ceasefire was declared in 1997 and ground rules enforced to stop fighting to begin the Indo-Naga political dialogue, few battalions of the Assam Rifles (AR) are growing increasingly restive as its belligerent mood against National Socialist Council of Nagalim (NSCN) refused to cool down. This is the irony of the situation after the historic ceasefire to bring peace in Nagalim. Some AR battalions started to indulge in mud-slinging battle by casting malicious slurs, with all sorts of insulting, unfair and damaging remarks against NSCN. Nevertheless, the toast of NSCN towards AR has always been peaceful co-existence. However, this was never reciprocated as demanded by the spirit of ceasefire. Rather, the AR finds undue pleasure to transgress the bounds of ethical value and morality simply to put NSCN on the wrong side of any given issue. Few incidents that took place recently in the hands of AR has to be given proper narrative lest the world is carried away by AR’s smear campaign against NSCN.
Recently two NSCN cadres were arrested in Mokokchung district while doing their bona fide duty. They were without any arms in their possession, but PRO (Defence) issued fabricated statement that a “war-like store” was caught from their possession. When NSCN’s media machinery was activated and presented the media with factual truth, the Assam Rifles went into hiding as they were caught on wrong the foot to mislead the world.
In another incident, NSCN was responding to the appeal of the public against fraudsters and drug peddlers in Dimapur. Here also the AR came into the scene with the sinister design to smear NSCN name using foul language like “kidnapping” and “ransom”, “fake currency notes”. Such bewildering allegations against NSCN again brought the situation forcing us to nail AR for making unscrupulous attack against NSCN simply to score unqualified point against NSCN. Annoying as it is, AR never stops to rub us the wrong way. But the moot point is what makes the AR so obsessed to slander NSCN on any given situation without any substance! Such narcissistic tendencies of AR towards NSCN will serve nothing good other than inflicting its own credibility that AR has been helplessly struggling to establish.
We understand AR’s desperateness against NSCN. It is an attempt to undermine our credibility and reputation- with the goal of distracting public attention from something they are trying to achieve. The irony is these carefully orchestrated attacks against internationally recognized organization like NSCN may never succeed in the end, because the truth always triumphs.
