GENERAL SECERTARY

CONDOLENCE MESSAGE
Oking, 30th December, 2024
I express my profound sorrow over the passing of former US President Jimmy Carter. He was a distinguished leader who held deep respect for the rights of the Naga people and closely followed the progress of the Indo-Naga dialogue for many years. He envisioned a secure and honorable future for the Nagas.
Demonstrating his unwavering interest and support, following the signing of the Amsterdam Joint Communique on July 11, 2002, President Carter wrote a letter to the then Prime Minister of India, Late Dr. Manmohan Singh, on June 18, 2005. In this letter, he commended Dr. Singh’s wise and courageous leadership in advancing the Naga political issue towards a peaceful and lasting solution that would ensure the rights of the Naga people while maintaining India’s security.
With his passing, the Nagas have lost a great friend who deeply understood their rights. His legacy will continue to inspire and encourage the Naga political struggle, reaffirming their commitment to defend their God-given rights as a people and as a nation.
On behalf of the NSCN and the Naga people, I extend our heartfelt prayers for the eternal peace of Jimmy Carter’s soul.
Th. Muivah
