POLITICAL SIGNIFICANCE OF MUIVAH’S HOME VISIT
NSCN General Secretary and Ato Kilonser GPRN Th. Muivah home coming is to deliver the message of hope and a symbolic assertion that the Naga people’s aspiration for the Naga political solution must be carried forward with greater conviction and courage. The Naga people’s hope of finding a fruition after the 1997 Indo-Naga ceasefire came in 2015 when the historic Framework Agreement of the 3rd August, 2015 was signed with a great deal of public attention, excitement, and worldwide publicity. Here, Muivah along with Chairman Isak Chishi Swu captured the imagination of the Naga people for giving them the much-awaited agreement with the Government of India where the sovereign political identity of the Naga people is well protected upholding the ideals of the Naga freedom pioneers.
Muivah’s home visit after more than half a century is to tell his people in South Nagalim that he has not failed for what they have fought for at the cost of blood, sweats and tears. Given the fact that the fundamental principle of the Framework Agreement that he co-signed with Chairman Isak Chishi Swu and RN Ravi, was to safeguard the sanctity of the God-given Naga people’s political identity as a nation, the responsibility to make a meaning of the agreement lies heavily on the commitment of the Naga people to carry forward the Framework Agreement movement for the logical conclusion.
History tells us that the first Indo- Naga Political Talks that took place during the time of Prime Minister, Mrs. Indira Gandhi, failed not because of any other reason but on account of lack of political craftsmanship on the part of Naga political negotiators. The opportunity laid down before the Nagas with the highly rated and valued political agreement brought about by FA is something that the political observers around the world admired and praised the NSCN Naga political negotiators led by Chief Political Negotiator Th. Muivah as it stands out in accordance with the truth of Naga political history. This is the gift of our history and the price of our more than seven decades of struggle that involved blood sweats and tears.
We have to uphold the principles that we have championed.
KUKNALIM!
