Press Release NDFB

PRESS RELEASE

O8 – 12 – 09

The claim made by Mr. Gobinda Basumatary and Rwjab Deka in the press conference on 5th Dec, 2009 that Rwjab Deka escaped 10 months ago from the Boroland Army General Headquarters is nothing but just a blatant lie and a cheap propaganda.

Rwjab Deka, the then Commandant of the Third Battalion who was elected as the Organizing Secretary of NDFB was relieved from his duty on medical ground. He was suffering from kidney malfunction and his left kidney was operated on 20th August 2008 and within months his right kidney developed the same symptoms. At the same time he was diagnosed as Hepatitis A and B positive virus carrier.  So he was relieved on 13th Feb, 2009 for his proper medical treatment. Despite his poor health condition he continued to work for the party for which we are grateful to him. We also wish him speedy recovery.

He was elected as the Organizing Secretary of NDFB only on the basis of his seniority. But he defected to the Designated Camp on 18th Nov, 2009 and knowing his defection the National Council’s Meeting held on 5th Dec, 2009 after consulting all the senior Boroland Army officials have elected young and energetic B. Naison who is at present leading more than 70 cadres in a new Foreign Mission as the new Organizing Secretary of NDFB.

For the last one year there had been many occasions where cadres from Designated Camp came out and joined us. In the last September as many as 16 cadres, mostly seniors from the Designated Camp came out at one occasion and joined us but we have never made it public nor tried to make cheap propaganda out of it. There are many more cadres numbering hundreds or more willing to come forward and join us from the clutches of the so called leaders who have deviated from the dreams of the martyrs and the ideology and principle of NDFB.

Those members or cadres who have deserted the party and have chosen to bow down before India should refrain from making such cheap propaganda in future for the greater interest of the Boro Nation. It is not the sheer numbers of the fighters but the spirit and determination that can save a nation. Therefore, we appeal one and all to rally around the real NDFB and not to be misguided by coward and cheap propaganda just for political or personal motivations.

We have always been maintaining that we are not against Talks to resolve the standing Indo-Boro political problems. However unlike Mr. Gobinda Basumatary we can not surrender our ideology and principle before we start the Talks with India.

We congratulate Chairman Arabinda Rajkhowa and Deputy Chief of Army Staff Raju Baruah for their firm political stand and express solidarity with ULFA. It was surprising and ridiculous how Mr. Gobinda Basumatary, who has already compromised the principle and ideology of NDFB and surrendered and bowed down before India, could appeal Arabinda Rajkhowa, the Chairman of ULFA not to surrender before India.
