The General Council of the People’s Democratic Alliance (PDA) held on 04-02-2010 at Imphal deeply discussed about the participation in the ensuing District Council Election in the hill areas of Manipur. In the said meeting, the extension of the VI Schedule provision of the Constitution of India, the Constitutional Rights over land and natural resources of the hill tribal people, the political problems relating to insurgency in the north eastern region with special reference to Indo-Naga Peace Process like the aged old Naga people’s aspiration for unification and the Suspension of Operation (SoO) involving Kuki, Chin-Mizo group were the core issue discussed. The Council also expressed about the lackadaisical attitude of the SPF Govt. led by Congress that reduced the District Council in hill areas as mere hollow drums by the latest amendment of the headless Act and the party’s desire for bringing about a logical political solution with strong political will on the part of the centre to end the half a century old political conflicts in the region.
The General Council further resolved to carry out in action the party’s manifesto adopted in the 15th Lok Sabha Election, 2009 and appeal for all out people’s support towards the party’s endeavor to achieve the long cherished political aspiration of the hill tribal people of Manipur.
