NAGA ARMY CHIEF TAKES THE NAGA ISSUE CLOSER TO THE PEOPLE IN SOUTHERN NAGAS

In the midst of the much delayed Indo-Naga political solution and the stressful wait of the Naga people, particularly the people in southern Nagalim, the Longvibu of the Naga Army, General Ningkhan Shimray, MC, VC, went on whirlwind tour covering Tamenglong, Chandel and foothill area in Ukhrul. All the way it was a soul searching meeting to give hope and inspiration.

In the first place the Naga people in Zeilad Region extended a record breaking reception with the turn up of the people that numbered more than 10,000. The birth place of the Naga freedom pioneer Haipou Jadonang lived up to its name to show the world that the fire of freedom struggle ignited by Haipou Jadonang has not died. It is still glowing like burning fire with no sign of giving up. He paid tribute and salute the unwavering bravery and visionary leadership of Jadonang. He praised the Zeliangrong people in keeping the legacy of Jadonang alive to defend the sanctity of the Nagas’ sovereign rights.

He reminded the people that NSCN stands firm to carry forward the political mission with unwavering loyalty to God and to our Naga people. He said, “No force can deny our sovereign rights with the Naga national flag and the constitution (Yehzabo).” He asserted that the Nagas are God’s chosen people and He has not forsaken the Nagas.

While meeting the Naga people of Khurmi Region in Chandel, he stressed on the unity and trust in God, the true advocate and unwavering ally behind the Naga political movement.

Winding up his whirlwind tour of Southern Nagalim at Sada Lungthar on December 20, 2023 where the meeting was organized by the Tangkhul Naga Foothills Organization and participated by the Kom Naga Union, Chiru Naga Union, Purum Naga Union, Maring Naga Union and Kharam Naga Union, he delivered a strong political message, “You cannot be the slaves of other people. This is our sovereign land and we must decide our own future,” and quoted from the Bible, “if you know the truth, the truth will set you free.”
