NSCN prayer & fasting for peace process
Dimapur, April 15 (MExN): The Council of Nagalim Churches (CNC) of the NSCN has called for a 3-day prayer and fasting 5th – 7th May under the theme “For I am ready not only to be bound but also to die at Jerusalem for the name of the Lord” (Acts. 21:13b). According to a note from Arshing Sankhil, general secretary of CNC, the main objective of the program is to ‘re-direct our hearts and souls towards God and thereby, to identify our role in the ongoing Indo-Naga political talks.’
“Coming closer to God we can help bring about an honourable and acceptable solution to six decades old Indo-Naga conflicts”, the note stated. Further, it said, ‘for too many years the political talks have dragged on and, therefore, the presence of God is crucially important at this juncture’. “We strongly believe that our gracious God will definitely hear the cry and a fervent prayer of His people as He has assured us thus ‘Call upon me in the days of trouble, I will deliver you and you shall glorify me’ (Ps. 50:15)”, the note quoted.
Believing that ‘God can do everything for the Nagas if we approach Him with sincerity and honesty’, the CNC has appealed to all the ‘Naga army units’, ‘regions’ and prayer centers, irrespective of denomination, throughout “Nagalim” to observe the programme.
The CNC also informed that the national level “Seven day Fasting and prayer” program conducted from 24th – 30th March 2010 at Council Headquarters’ Church, Hebron was a great success. “What a blessing for the Nagas, and particularly for the NSCN members who have taken an ‘oath’ in the name of God to carry forward the national work accepting the fact that without God we can do nothing”.
