Indo-Naga Political Talks Awareness Meeting

To keep abreast of the ongoing Indo-Naga political talks, Zeilad Region of NSCN/GPRN and Jadonang Brigade, Naga Army, organized an awareness program at Aben, Tousem sub-division, Tamenglong, Manipur, on the 26th April, 2022. It was attended by over 300 delegates comprising of village chairmen/ secretaries, youth leaders, women leaders and church leaders from Hmar, Zeme, Rongmei and Liangmei tribes.

Those that attended the meeting were also Zemes from NC Hills, Assam, Rongmeis from Cachar area, Assam and Rongmeis from Jiribam district, Manipur.

The meeting takes pride of the historical fact of the Naga political movement started in Tamenglong district by Haipou Jadonang and Heipei Rani Gaidinliu and the ongoing Indo-Naga political talks leading to the signing of the historic Framework Agreement. The recent visit of the Government of India’s interlocutor Mr. AK Mishra to Dimapur and even touching the NSCN’s CHq Hebron was also discussed for proper understanding.

After a daylong deliberation, the meeting concluded with following declaration:

  1. To support the ongoing Indo-Naga peace talks between the NSCN and the Government of India.
  2. To extend fullest support to the Collective Leadership of NSCN and the Talk Team under NSCN General Secretary and Chief Negotiator Mr. Th. Muivah.
  3. To appeal to both NSCN and GoI to expedite the Indo-Naga peace process based on the Framework Agreement of the 3rd August, 2015, inclusive of the Naga national flag and the Naga constitution (Yehzabo).
  4. That solution should be inclusive, honorable and acceptable to the Naga people based on the uniqueness of the Naga history.

At the end of the meeting, Zeilad Region Caretaker CAO Mr. DG Robert impressed upon the attending delegates not to be misled by misguided propagandas but to stand firm behind the Framework Agreement.
