It is a matter of regret that despite clarification issued by Mr. V. Horam, Executive Member, Steering Committee, NSCN on how he was misquoted by the Reporter of News 18, the much awaited corrigendum is yet to be issued by NEWS 18. The Reporter has unnecessarily sensationalized Horam’s statement exaggerating the actual words and intents. The NSCN/GPRN is left with no option but to condemn News 18 for its irresponsible professional practice.
All that Horam told the Reporter was “Nagas being Christian community need to be alert. Naga Army and our intelligence agencies are alert even though there is no visible threat at the moment”. But what comes out in NEWS 18 was “NSCN (IM) vows to defeat ISIS in case they choose to attack Nagaland.” It is annoying the way NEWS 18 dramatize Horam’s statement.
As a counter measure, we are constrained to blacklist NEWS 18 with immediate effect.
