PRESS STATEMENT

GOVERNMENT OF THE PEOPLE’S REPUBLIC OF NAGALIM

PRESS STATEMENT
Viswema 3 June, 2010

During our stopover at Viswema we have had series of interactions with the Naga public, Social organizations, civil societies, church leaders & organizations, the media and well-wishers. In the formal and casual interface the hon’ble Ato Kilonser Th. Muivah and his members have had productive dialogue for peaceful resolution of all issues through political dialogue.

In the casual and informal talks with the cross section of people the support for all issues based struggles was expressed. It is the right of any oppressed nations or groups to assert and fight for their rights. Revolution is bound to occur from nations or communities who are driven to the extreme because of discrimination, domination and exploitation from the states concerned and the mainstream ruling elites.

However, there was no intentional official statement given, amounting to personal or communal attack on any group or leader at the local or national level, including P.Chidambaram the Union Home Minister of India as reported in some national papers.

It is also an honour for the Naga struggle that we have not resorted to attacking innocent civilians during our decades of resistance against the aggression from India and Burma. We stand by the principle that ‘Military way solution’ cannot solve political issues. States must seek poltical approach and negotiation with oppressed groups and nations.
