GOVERNMENT OF THE PEOPLE’S REPUBLIC OF NAGALIM
Ministry of Information and Publicity
PRESS STATEMENT
Oking, the 8th March, 2024
Since the Government of India and UNLF (Pambei) entered into peace agreement, National Socialist Council of Nagalim (NSCN) has been following the development with much curiosity and interest. No wonder, it is the primary duty of NSCN to protect its people and geopolitical issue. This encompasses various aspects such as safeguarding the rights and well-being of the Nagas, defending against external threats and preserving the territorial integrity of Nagalim. By doing this, NSCN aims to create a stable and secure environment where its territory is not intruded by unauthorized people or organizations.
In keeping with this stand, NSCN is against the setup of UNLF/MPA designated camp in Naga territory in Manipur. What is more ironic is the setting up of UNLF designated camp in Naga territory in Manipur without the consent or knowledge of the Naga public. Such a reckless intrusion is highly condemnable. Therefore, UNLF designated camp in Naga territory must be shifted immediately.
Significantly, when the Government of India and NSCN signed ceasefire to process the political talks, everything was formally discussed and arrangements done accordingly with regard to setting up of designated camps. In the case of the Government of India and UNLF, setting up designated camps was handled in a haphazard manner without considering the geopolitical sentiment. Is the Government of India trying to incite communal war between the Meiteis and the Nagas? All these confusions should be done away with lest undesirable consequences arise.
