GOVERNMENT OF THE PEOPLE’S REPUBLIC OF NAGALIM
Ministry of Information and Publicity
CONDOLENCE MESSAGE, the 28th December, 2024
NSCN/GPRN is deeply shocked and saddened by the tragic news aboutthe passing away of former Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh. He was the sorts of Prime Minister of India who stands out in his approach to the Naga political issue showing the way how the Naga issue can be solved. With his legitimate conviction on the historical and political rights of the Nagas he was ready to go ‘extra miles’ and solve the Naga political issue ‘out of the box’. We still remember his words during the 6th round of talks headed by the Collective Leadership, NSCN, in New Delhi on the 7th December, 2004, “All efforts will be made to find a solution. A solution acceptable to both the parties can only be found through talks. We are equally keen to work out mutually acceptable honorable solution. We will be sincere in tackling the problem. We will give our utmost effort to hammer out honorable solution. We will explore jointly every possible way to bring solution”.
It was during his time as Prime Minister of India that he deputed three ministers to talk with the NSCN talk team. He gave the assurance to the Naga delegates on the 9th February, 2005 that “The pattern of relationship should be worked out”.
During his one-to-one talk with Mr. Th. Muivah, the Chief Negotiator, at his official residence, New Delhi, on the 24th June, 2005, he said, “We are serious, sincere and have the confidence that we could solve the problem through peaceful means. You have to be patient with us. We have started taking every positive step. We do not under rate your issue. This is our assurance”.
We acknowledge his boldness and sincerity in his effort to solving the
Naga political issue. The memories and experiences with such statesman will provide a lasting legacy for the Nagas.
We express our deepest condolences to his family members and to his close friends. Indo-Naga history will keep on record his assuring words and commitment. In his demise the Nagas have lost a great leader who always stood out for the Naga political solution that is honorable and acceptable to India and Nagalim.
It is our wish that his soul rest in everlasting peace.
