GOVERNMENT OF THE PEOPLE’S REPUBLIC OF NAGALIM
Ministry of Information and Publicity
PRESS RELEASE
Hebron, the 12th March, 2019
Despite the progress of Indo-Naga political talks, there had been regular provocations and confrontations with calculated attempt to upset the Nagas’ search for peaceful settlement of the issue that has passed too many years. There are countless occasions when Kuki militants and Assam Rifles formed unholy nexus to target the Nagas.
In this context, the most glaring incident is the blatant act of the 31 Assam Rifles stationed at Kamjong Battalion Headquarters. Plotted by communal elements that abound within the Manipur state government, the 31 Assam Rifles continues its divisive one sided role with impunity.
The recent incident at Kamjong, Ukhrul district, Manipur is to be seen from proper perspective. The incident is rooted in one particular Kuki, notorious for being a drug peddler and a man of doubtful character. For quite long, the NSCN has been made aware by the local populace on the urgency to rein in this person keeping in mind public interest and social well-being. But, he keeps on avoiding the NSCN cadres who tried to meet him on several occasions.
A day came when the NSCN cadres approach him at his house to clarify his identity. He however panic and retaliated defiantly and tried to flee, but in the process, he hurt himself bleeding when he fell on the rugged ground. But the Kuki groups concocted the incident and projected the incident as the barbaric acts of NSCN since they are working hand in glove.
Whatever the allegation they labeled against the NSCN, it is all baseless. The NSCN will not tolerate any baseless allegation whether today or tomorrow.
