Press Statement
Hebron, the 16th March, 2019

The over indulgence of Assam Rifles to put NSCN on the wrong side is something that keeps happening repeatedly. In fact, Assam Rifles has turned itself into cantankerous force which takes pleasure in projecting NSCN as the culprit of any given incident. But Naga civil societies refused to have AR have its own way but to let the truth stand out as it matters the interest of public welfare. Such kind of bemusing incidents keeps happening in the hands of AR.

The glaring incident is the Chandel incident of 13th March, 2019 where a woman of dubious character connected with drug trafficking was arrested by NSCN for interrogation as pleaded by local civil society organizations. But afraid of exposing the drug trafficking as well organized gang, members of the gang of the arrested woman passed the information to 18 Assam Rifles and blatantly accused the two arrested NSCN members of kidnapping the woman. The NSCN members were overpowered by surprise and never reacted in any violent manner and let AR have its own way in keeping with the spirit of the ongoing Indo-Naga political talk.

Be it known that within no time, Chandel CSOs raised an alarm against the AR for wrongly projecting the arrested NSCN members as kidnappers. NSCN as people’s based revolutionary organization is consciously apprehensive of people’s well-being and never fail to act against any anti-social elements. But, the AR is more often than not found to be bedeviled itself by going against NSCN and dampened the very spirit that goes to build peaceful social environment. Unfounded allegations against NSCN will take the AR nowhere to glory itself as ‘friends of the hill people’.

The Thiluxu incident is another desperate attempt by AR to bring bad name to NSCN. For no reason, NSCN Deputy Kilonser Mr. Kakito Zhimomi was arrested along with two other persons who are his tenants at his Thiluxu house. His license .22 rifle was also taken away but given back at the time of his release as AR could not substantiate anything illegal against him.

In the face of AR’s high handedness as seen in these two incidents, the truth always comes out in strength to rescue the good name of NSCN.
